Venezuelan oil at the center, the US reveals its plan

While the main news over the past 24 hours has been the seizure of two ships by the US with ties to Venezuela, there has also been buzz about a possible oil deal between the two countries.
Yesterday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US has a three-step plan for Venezuela that will begin with stabilizing the country, overseeing its recovery and, ultimately, a transition.
He also said the US is in the midst of executing a deal to take 30-50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela.
"One of those ships that was seized that had oil in the Caribbean, you know what the interim authorities in Venezuela are asking for? They want the oil that was seized to be part of this deal," he said.
"They understand that the only way they can move oil and generate revenue and not have an economic collapse is if they cooperate and work with the United States."
Rubio warned that change in Venezuela will take time, adding that it will be "up to the Venezuelan people to transform their country."
This is similar to what we have heard from Donald Trump, who said that the US could oversee Venezuela for years.
"Oil will take some time," he admitted. /Telegraph/
