VW Group 'negotiates tariffs with Trump administration'

US President Donald Trump has long argued that the tariffs he imposed on imported goods would ultimately benefit the United States.

According to him, most companies would prefer to manufacture their products locally rather than significantly increase prices.

And this could be the latest example from the VW Group, reports the Telegraph, which is said to be in talks with the Trump administration about exactly this.

The main player in this discussion is Audi, a brand that, unlike Volkswagen, does not have a factory in the US.

As a result, it imports most of its cars from Europe, with the exception of its best-seller, the Q5, which is built in Mexico and now faces crushing tariffs.

However, this could change, as revealed by the group's CEO, Oliver Blume.

In an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine, Blume confirmed that the company is in negotiations with the Trump administration to build an Audi factory in the United States.

“We have a strategy ahead with exciting, tailored and attractive project approaches for the US market,” he was quoted as saying. “… Constructive discussions are underway with the US government.” /Telegraph/
