VALEN reacts to Arbër Ademi: DUI has blocked the country's progress towards the EU over the years
"Two weeks after the debacle in the local elections and two weeks after the publication of the Progress Report by the European Commission, DUI and Arbër Ademi "woke up from their slumber" to show their improvised concern for the European path. The irony is profound, with half of the leadership on blacklists for high corruption, they come out and hold conferences for European progress, progress that they themselves have blocked for many years", this is how the VLEN coalition reacted today, after DUI accused the current government of regressing on the path towards the EU.
VALEN says that DUI has acted anti-EU over the years, so citizens are seeing the consequences of those actions today through EU reports.
"Even more absurd is that in the local elections, DUI openly joined forces with the most anti-NATO and anti-EU party in the country, Apasijev's Left Party, in Gostivar, Tetovo and Struga. When they needed power, they forgot about Europe. Today, when they lost their municipalities and influence, they suddenly remembered the EU! The truth is that they violated the European path when they changed the Criminal Code against the warnings of our strategic friends, paving the way for the return of Nikola Gruevski and the release of Saso Mijalkov. All the findings in the report have not happened in the last 12 months. These are the accumulated consequences of many years of mismanagement, which we see today written in black and white by the European Commission. The VLEN coalition welcomes the European Commission's Report as a realistic, objective and useful document for the state. The report clearly shows that some processes have moved forward. For VLEN, the path towards the European Union is essential, fundamental and non-negotiable," it says in the reaction of VALEN.
