Usyk is a true patriot: He will give huge sums of money to Ukrainian boxers for every medal at the Olympics

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has shown many times during the Russian aggression against his homeland that he is a patriot and now he has made another move that best illustrates this.

The world heavyweight champion of the WBC, WBO and WBA decided to reward Ukrainian boxers from his own pocket for every medal won at the Olympic Games in 'Paris 2024'.

Ukraine is represented in the Olympic boxing tournament by Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Oleksandr Kizhniak and Aider Abduraimov and Dmytro Lovchinskiy, so Usyk has promised to reward them handsomely should they step up to the podium.

"Usyk helps our boxers a lot, mainly financially. Now he has promised to give them 80.000 dollars for the gold medal, 70 for the silver and 50 for the bronze," revealed the selector of the Ukrainian boxing team, Dmitry Sosnovsky.

Otherwise, Usyk himself won the Olympic gold medal in the heavyweight category at the London Olympics in 2012. /Telegraph/
