Ukrainian court orders arrest of former president Viktor Yanukovych, accused of treason and closeness to Putin

The Ukrainian court has ordered the arrest of former president Viktor Yanukovych, who is being accused of treason.

Yanukovych from February 2010 to February 2014 exercised the function of the president of Ukraine, where he then escaped to Russia, with which he cooperated closely even when he was the head of Ukraine, Telegraph reports.

He was previously sentenced to 13 years in prison for treason, and everything happened because of his closeness and cooperation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, from whom he asked the Russian army and police to establish law and order in Ukraine.

This time he is accused of treason and the agreement he signed in 2010, for the expansion of Russian control over Crimea.

This agreement, known as the Kharkiv Pact, enabled Russia to keep its fleet in the Black Sea in the port of Crimea - that is, in Sevastopol.

And this fleet was part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. /Telegraph/
