Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has spoken to Ukrainian media about combat plans through 2026, emphasizing that Ukraine's military goal is "to kill 50 Russians every month."

Speaking about all the reforms he plans to implement within the Ukrainian armed forces, but also within the ministry itself, Fedorov concluded that it is essential to carry out changes in management.

"Management should be built around those who are capable of achieving the set goals. If people do not show measurable results, they cannot stay in the system," Fedorov said.

In addition to changes in management, Fedorov also spoke about the need to inflict greater losses on Russian forces, reports MEDIA.

"The next strategic goal is to kill 50 Russians every month. Last month, 35 people were killed, and all these losses are confirmed by video recordings. If we reach 50, we will see what will happen to the enemy. They consider people as a resource, and the shortages are already visible," Fedorov added.

Despite heavy losses, Russia has managed to make some small progress on the front line in Ukraine because it is able to compensate for losses by sending in new contract soldiers.

The Ukrainian open-source mapping project “DeepState” reported that Russian forces during 2025 occupied 4,336 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which constitutes less than 1 percent of the state's territory.

On the other hand, Kiev is facing an increasingly serious shortage of personnel, especially within the infantry units holding the front line.

In a rare report, Fedorov said on January 14 that two million Ukrainians are wanted for evading mobilization, and another 200 soldiers have been reported for desertion. /Telegraph/
