Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine "needs a date" for its accession to the European Union and that he aims to be ready to join in 2027.

"We need a date," he said during a press conference.

"The accession date depends on all these talks with partners, but, and I don't want to be disrespectful to the United States and Europe, we need a date because otherwise Russia will try to block us - directly or perhaps through other countries," he added.

"Ukraine should be technically ready to join by 2027, my government, parliament, institutions," Zelensky continued.

Otherwise, he was recently asked by reporters if he is worried that the Russians will poison him.

"I don't know what will happen tomorrow," he replied.

"We have to fight every day. Every day is a new life. Our only goal is to survive," the Ukrainian leader added.

He continued: "I don't think about myself because we have lost so many people. I am one of many people in Ukraine who are fighting."

"I can't think about Vladimir Putin and his poisonous ambitions, if he has any. I try not to think about it, otherwise it's the only thing I think about," he added. /Telegraph/
