Ukraine reaches military agreement with US

Ukraine and the United States of America reached an agreement on a military plan for the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The document, coordinated at the level of the General Staffs, defines support, supply and compliance mechanisms, at a time when Ukraine is seeking strong post-war security guarantees, writes Kyiv Post.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov, confirmed the agreement during a press conference.
"Bilateral cooperation with the United States took place at the level of the General Staffs. A military document consisting of four parts was agreed upon," Hnatov declared.
"All these parts are related to how support will be provided to Ukraine and its Armed Forces, how their supply and modernization will be carried out, as well as how compliance with the agreements will be monitored and the response in case of their non-implementation," he added.
Ukraine has long sought from its allies an effective mechanism for the post-war modernization of its army, as well as strong security guarantees in the event of a new Russian aggression.
Otherwise, during his New Year's speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that "the peace agreement is 90 percent ready," while the remaining 10 percent relates to territorial issues. /Telegraph/
