Ukraine has lost an F-16 fighter jet after an "unusual situation" on board, but the pilot managed to parachute safely, the Ukrainian air force has announced.
"According to preliminary data... an unusual situation has occurred on board. The pilot has removed the plane from the residential area and has successfully ejected," the announcement on Telegram reads.
The air force added that "the pilot's condition is good. A commission has been appointed to investigate all the circumstances of the incident."
According to the statement, it appears that the loss of the plane did not occur as a result of Russian attacks, it writes. sky news.
This is the second crash involving an F-16 since Ukrainian forces began receiving the planes from American allies last year.
