Military analyst Michael Clarke was asked why Kiev does not retaliate against Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure in the same way, with its own long-range Flamingo missiles.

According to Clarke, Kiev does not want to target Russia's energy infrastructure, as this could be considered a war crime against the Russian population.

Instead, Ukraine has targeted Russia's oil refining capacity, which it has done "very successfully" so far.

"They are attacking refineries to create gasoline shortages, which they already have," he explains.

"By targeting refined capacity, they impact the Russian economy," Clarke added.

"Russia has raised gasoline prices significantly by 15-20% in a year. And it looks like they will increase even further," the analyst continued.

"They have been forced to stop exporting refined gasoline because they simply don't have enough of it. And this has been Ukraine's response," he concluded. /Telegraph/
