US Secretary of State arrives in Israel for his first visit to the Middle East
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Tel Aviv for his first visit to the Middle East.
It is known that this visit comes as part of his engagements with senior officials to promote US interests in advancing regional cooperation, stability, and peace, the US Embassy in Israel announced.
He is expected to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu tomorrow.
While his visit comes after a proposal by Donald Trump to relocate Palestinians in Gaza, writes sky news, the Telegraph reports.
Trump first floated the suggestion that Egypt and Jordan should accept Palestinians from Gaza on January 25, a proposal they strongly opposed.
It is reported that from Israel, Rubio will travel to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, other American officials are headed to Saudi Arabia to begin Russia-Ukraine peace talks.
Two sources familiar with the matter announced that national security adviser Mike Waltz and special envoy Steve Witkoff are on their way to Saudi Arabia.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said there had been an agreement to begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, following phone calls with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. /Telegraph/
