The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, today announced the appointment of Peter N. Due of Denmark as the new Special Representative and Head of the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

In the announcement made public by UNMIK, it is noted that Due will succeed Caroline Ziadeh from Lebanon.


General Secretary expressed gratitude for her commitment and dedication to strengthening peace and stability in Kosovo and the region, as well as for her effective leadership during her mandate at the head of the mission.

"Due brings with him over 30 years of extensive experience in the field of international peace and security. Since 2019, he has served as Director for Asia and the Pacific in the Departments of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding and Peacekeeping Operations. Previously, he was Director for Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (2015–2019)," the statement said.

Earlier in his career, Due served as the Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Office in Belgrade (2013–2015), as well as the Political Affairs Officer at UNMIK in Pristina. At UN Headquarters in New York, he held several senior positions, including Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations (2009–2013), as well as Team Leader for West Africa, Europe and Latin America. /Telegrafi/
