In a solemn ceremony held at the Science, Innovation and Technology Park, he announced the awarding of the "Lifetime Decoration of Honor" to the Jashari Family, in recognition of their courage, heroic resistance and sacrifice in the fight for freedom, justice and independence.
The decoration was presented to Rifat Jashari, as a representative of the family, making this an institutional act of honor and moral respect for history.
The President of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, during his speech on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence and the 25th anniversary of the founding of UBT, emphasized that the Jashari Family symbolizes the sublime sacrifice for the freedom and independence of the country.
He quoted former international administrator Bernard Kouchner: “If there were a Nobel Prize for Freedom, it would belong to the Jashari Family.”
Further, Hajrizi added: "With the sacrifice of the Jashari family, led by the Legendary Commander Adem Jashari, this family gave Kosovo freedom and set the moral standard; that freedom is not won without blood, that dignity is not protected without sacrifice, and that the future must be built on our national and historical memory."
In his speech, Hajrizi also highlighted UBT's 25-year journey, considering the university an act of faith in the future of the country and a response to the need for quality education with international standards. He highlighted UBT's international rankings and successes, emphasizing that freedom takes on full meaning only when it is transformed into knowledge, work and vision.
UBT, during its 25 years, has educated thousands of young people in Kosovo, has made scientific and innovative contributions at the global level, and has actively participated in building the country's institutions and organizations.
Based on these results, UBT has been selected as the best university in the world for engagement and impact on society by the World University Rankings, leaving behind very prestigious international universities.
Renowned international institutions that have recognized UBT for performance and innovation include: SCImago Institutions Rankings, World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), Association of Chartered Certified Universities (ACCU), Times Higher Education.
Rector Hajrizi concluded the ceremony by recalling the importance of historical heritage and emphasizing UBT's responsibility to continue the mission of educating new generations.
