Two people arrested for attempting to illegally transport migrants from China and Afghanistan
The Macedonian Ministry of Interior announces that yesterday, 17.04.2025 at 19:30 on the border line between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Greece, police officers in Bogorodica noticed five people who attempted to illegally cross the state border.
"LJ (35) and a 17-year-old from China and UK (23) from Afghanistan were deprived of their liberty, while two people left the scene. Immediately after the measures and activities were taken and due to the suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of "smuggling of migrants", DT (32) and 49-year-old VT, both from Gevgelija, were also deprived of their liberty near the border line."
"Mobile phones were found nearby and seized for further processing, and the people were detained at the police station. After documenting the case, a corresponding report will be filed against them," the Macedonian Ministry of Internal Affairs says.
