The former mayor of Zvecan, Ilir Peci, has opposed the decision of the current mayor of this municipality, Dragisa Milović, to not confirm the employment contracts of two Albanian municipal officials.

Peci, through a post on the social network Facebook, wrote that the decision to terminate the employment relationship is unfounded and contrary to the legislation in force.

"As a former mayor of the Municipality of Zveçan and currently an assemblyman in this municipality, I express my full opposition to the decision of the current mayor, Mr. Dragisha Milović, to not confirm the employment contracts of two Albanian municipal officials. The decision to terminate the employment relationship is unfounded and contrary to the legislation in force. According to the law in force, after the end of the six-month probationary period, if within 24 hours from the date of completion of this period a decision to terminate is not made, the employment contract is automatically extended. In this case, this legal deadline has been exceeded, therefore the decision taken has no legal effect," he wrote.

According to him, the justifications presented by the current mayor are unfounded, especially the claim of poor work evaluation does not stand "since during my mandate as mayor of the Municipality of Zveçan, the work of these two officials has been positively evaluated for five consecutive months, fulfilling their duties and responsibilities in a professional manner."

"This action constitutes not only a legal violation, but also an institutional injustice that damages the functioning of the municipal administration and the principle of equality. I demand that this decision be urgently reviewed and that the laws, procedures and rights of municipal officials be respected. I will continue to advocate for municipal institutions to act in accordance with the law and the interests of the citizens of the Municipality of Zveçan", Peci wrote, among other things. /Telegrafi/
