Two more days for the January 11th voter list, the census is no longer valid

Two more days remain available for residents of Gostivar, Vrapçisht, Qendër Zhupa and Mavrovo-Rostusha to check the voter list. The public review of the list closes on December 10th at midnight.
Political parties also have a few days to decide on their candidates for these four municipalities. Candidate lists will be submitted later, until December 11 at midnight, 30 days before election day.
The local elections will be repeated on January 11 in the four municipalities where the turnout of at least 1/3 of the voters was not reached on October 19. The electoral code provides that the census requirement does not apply in the repeat elections.
"Repeated elections are held no later than 60 days after the announcement of the final results, in which case the condition regarding the participation of one-third of the total number of voters registered on the electoral list for the respective municipality does not apply," states the Electoral Code, Article 132-a.
Political parties have not yet made their candidacies official for these municipalities. In Gostivar and Vrapçishte, VLEN and AKI are expected to face off. The latter faces challenges within the coalition, however, DUI has communicated that it will support the same candidates of Taravar's party, Valbon Limani and Isen Shabani.
The Government's confidant in Gostivar, Fadil Xhelili, has said that he is ready to accept being VLEN's candidate for the January 11 elections, if the coalition so decides.
The mayoral elections will also be repeated in Mavrovo-Rostuša, where on October 19 the two Macedonian parties OBRM-PDUKM and SDSM will face off, as well as in Qendër Zhupë, where on October 19 the Democratic Party of Turks, the Party for the Movement of Turks and the Movement for National Unity of Turks will face off.
The election campaign will begin on December 22 and will last until January 9. /Alsat/
