Two dates targeted by Trump and Putin for Ukraine ceasefire agreement revealed

US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are likely to try to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Russia-Ukraine war by April 20 or May 9.

At least that's what the Financial Times writes, reports Ukrinform.

As noted, on April 20 of this year, both the Orthodox and Catholic churches will celebrate Easter.

Another possible date is May 9 when Russia commemorates Victory Day, marking the USSR's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

"Putin would like an agreement on such a symbolic day," an unidentified Ukrainian official said, according to the Telegraph.

According to individuals who have interacted with Putin during the war, his primary objective is to reshape Europe's security architecture, ensuring that Russia has a recognized sphere of influence – similar to how the Yalta Conference in 1945 secured Soviet influence over Eastern Europe.

Recall that on Wednesday, February 12, President Donald Trump held a phone call with Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed Ukraine.

Trump also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for about an hour, discussing potential peace efforts, general cooperation and technological collaboration.

After the calls, Trump described the talks as "very good and positive," emphasizing the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. /Telegraph/
