The Kosovo Police, namely the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption (DHKEK), has discovered and taken swift action against two Albanian citizens suspected of counterfeiting money.

According to the official announcement, on 07.08.2025, the suspects were supplied with fuel at a gas station, paying with an amount of 50 euros - all in 10 euro banknotes.


During verification by fuel station employees, it was determined that four of the banknotes received were counterfeit.

The rapid response of Road Traffic Support Unit officials has helped in the efficient coordination of relevant police units.

As a result, the suspects were located and arrested at the Border Point with Albania, in Vërmicë - Prizren.

During a search of their car, police found another 780 euros, all suspected counterfeit banknotes.

After the arrest, the suspects were interviewed in the presence of defense lawyers.

By decision of the prosecutor in the case, one of them was taken into custody for 48 hours on suspicion of the criminal offense. "Counterfeiting money", while the other was released in a regular procedure by verbal order from the prosecutor.
