Turkish iron and steel exporters strengthen cooperation with Kosovo

The Turkish steel industry is expanding its horizons towards Kosovo, deepening economic cooperation and creating new opportunities for development.

Turkish Exporters Union (ÇİB) has taken an important step by organizing a trade mission to Pristina, where48 representatives from 28 Turkish companies will meet with businesses from Kosovo and countries in the region such as Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro, to explore cooperation opportunities.

The Trade Mission to Kosovo will be organized under the leadership of the President of the Steel Exporters Union (ÇİB), Mr. Adnan Aslan.

Bilateral business meetings will take place on Tuesday, February 25, from 10:00 to 18:00, IN Emerald Hotel, Pristina.

All companies from Kosovo and neighboring countries operating in the iron and steel industry, as well as in the construction, profiles, structures, equipment, installations and related materials sectors, are invited to meet with the delegation of participating Turkish companies.

Bilateral meetings which will be organized with the support of President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Mr. Lulzim Rafuna, will bring together manufacturing and trading companies in the sector to discuss new opportunities for cooperation and joint investments. Individual meetings between businesses will serve as a cornerstone for strengthening cooperation and increasing trade between the two countries.

The opening ceremony will be held at 9:00, which will be attended by the Ambassador of Turkey in Pristina, Mr. Sabri Tunç Angılı, as well as the Commercial Attaché, Ms. Seda Ulukaya. After the ceremony, over 100 bilateral business meetings are planned.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ÇİB, Mr. Aslan, emphasized that steel exports from Turkey to Kosovo, thanks to the geographical and historical proximity between the two friendly countries, have experienced a significant increase of 148% last year, reaching 264 thousand tons.

Turkey now represents 40% of the iron, steel and metals market in Kosovo and Turkish companies offer high quality products to the market.

This activity is expected to foster further development of cooperation between the two countries, involving the most well-known Turkish manufacturing and trading companies.

The Steel Exporters Union, established in 2005, represents a major force in the Turkish industry, with a production of 33.7 million tons and an export value of almost 15 billion dollars a year.

The Trade Mission will take place under the motto: “Quality, reliability, continuous improvement and innovation,” aiming to open new doors for cooperation and economic development in the region.
