The Trump administration will require foreign tourists to submit the last five years of their social media history to enter the United States.

The drastic move was President Donald Trump's latest attempt to screen those entering the country, after a freeze on immigration from 19 countries was announced last week.

The "mandatory" notice was published by Customs and Border Protection on Tuesday in the Federal Register, the Telegraph reports.

Social media data will be required for every person entering the United States, including countries like the United Kingdom and Germany that do not require visas for travel.

This follows a June announcement by the State Department that ordered travelers to make their social media profiles public.

People entering the US will also be required to provide email addresses, phone numbers and information on their family members to achieve safe passage.

The announcement said the American public will have 60 days to provide comments.

With the World Cup and the Olympic Games set to take place in the United States in 2026 and 2028, respectively, there will be hundreds of thousands of foreign travelers entering the country. /Telegraph/
