United States President Donald Trump has stated that his administration is preparing ground attacks that, according to him, will extend to the entire territory of Venezuela, as part of the American strategy to combat international drug trafficking.

"We have neutralized 96 percent of the drugs that came from the sea. Now we are starting from the land; from the land it is much easier and this will start to happen," Trump said during a public statement, emphasizing that the new phase of operations will focus on land trafficking routes.

According to the American president, these actions do not directly target Venezuela as a state or the Venezuelan people, but rather individuals and criminal groups that he described as "terrible people."

Trump said that these people are involved in drug trafficking and, according to him, are responsible for the deaths of many American citizens as a result of drugs entering the US.

Trump's statements come at a time of ongoing tensions between Washington and Caracas, while the international community has previously expressed concerns about the use of military force and respect for the sovereignty of countries.

We recall that US forces have, on several occasions, undertaken military operations against ships suspected of transporting narcotics destined for the United States, mainly in international waters.

However, the warning of ground attacks represents a new escalation in the American approach to the war on drug trafficking and is expected to provoke strong political and diplomatic reactions globally. /Telegraph/
