Trump will put up giant American flags at the White House – will the US president be fined?

US President Donald Trump said today that he plans to install two flagpoles at the White House. The flagpoles will be funded by the US president himself.

"We're putting up a beautiful American flag, almost 30 feet high, on this side and another one on the other side. Two flags - first-class," the 78-year-old told reporters, shortly after surveying the North Lawn of the White House.

The president said they would be paid for "by Trump" and would arrive "in about a week or so."

We remind you that this is not the first time that the American leader has made these kinds of decisions, namely giant flags, writes cnn.

In 2006, he violated Palm Beach city regulations when he erected an 80-foot-tall flagpole on the grounds of his Mar-a-Lago club.

Trump sued the city and sought $10 million in damages "due to repeated requests to remove the pole." He later increased the damages claim to $25 million.

The city began fining Trump $1250 a day on January 6, 2007, for code violations.

Trump and the city eventually reached an agreement, and he placed a 70-foot-tall flagpole inside and agreed to make donations to charitable groups related to veterans or the U.S. flag. /Telegraph/
