Trump threatens 20 years in prison for people who destroy Tesla cars: I'm looking for you

US President Donald Trump has warned that people caught vandalizing Tesla vehicles could face jail time.

"People caught sabotaging Tesla will have a very good chance of going to prison for up to 20 years, and that includes those who instigate such actions. We are looking for you," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

It is learned that Trump's announcement followed a series of cases of vandalism of Tesla vehicles in the US.

"The days of committing crimes with impunity are over," said Chief Prosecutor Pamela Bondi.

"Let this be a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla ownership, the Department of Justice will send you behind bars," she added.

How did it all start?

The wave of vandalism began after Musk joined the Trump administration and because of his controversial political views.

People across the US initially showed their displeasure with peaceful protests, but it later escalated into violence and property destruction.

In early March, seven Tesla charging stations in Massachusetts were deliberately set on fire, while an incident occurred at a Tesla showroom in Portland.

Riots also broke out at Tesla's Manhattan showroom as part of the nationwide Tesla Takedown protests, resulting in six arrests.

American media reported that over 350 people participated in the protests.

Graffiti with messages such as "No Musk" were found at a Tesla store in Maryland after protests.

The unrest also included vehicle owners, with some even going so far as to damage them in protest. /Telegraph/
