Trump receives heavy blow from fellow party members - Senate approves end to tariffs on more than 100 countries

The US Senate voted to end Donald Trump's global tariffs on more than 100 countries.
The vote passed 51 to 47, in the latest bipartisan effort to challenge the tariffs, but it is unlikely that the House of Representatives will take similar action.
The US Senate took a stand against Trump's global tariffs, which included over 100 countries, voting on Thursday to repeal the so-called "reciprocal" tariffs.
Four Republicans joined with all Democrats to vote 51-47 on a resolution to end the basic tariffs that the president imposed by executive order, reports theguardian.

It was the third time Republicans voted alongside Democrats on a tariff resolution this week; they had previously joined forces to end tariffs targeting Brazil and Canada.
It's rare for Republicans to oppose Trump in his second term. But Republican senators Susan Collins (Maine), Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul (Kentucky), and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) joined the opposition party.
The vote came as Trump was wrapping up a week in Asia, where he reached a deal with China to lower tariffs on Chinese goods and get China to buy American soybeans, a sticking point in the trade war that had made farmers uncertain.
Despite opposition in the Senate, the House of Representatives is unlikely to follow suit. House Republicans created a rule earlier this year that blocks tariff resolutions from getting a vote on the floor.
Resolutions on tariffs are now not only critical of the tariffs themselves, but also of Trump for exceeding Congressional authority. /Telegraph/
