Trump reveals why he can't drive

During a recent White House event, Donald Trump told reporters that he is not allowed to drive.

His statement came after he announced his decision to buy a Tesla in support of Elon Musk.

And this has left many wondering why the president can't drive.


Trump explained that he hasn't driven in years, writes yahoonews, the Telegraph reports.

"I'm going to buy one, now here's the bad news. I'm not allowed to drive a car. And I like to drive cars," the US president said.

Instead, he said he would keep the vehicle at the White House for his staff to use, adding that they were excited about it.

Trump also added: "I'm not allowed to use it. Can you believe it?"

Like all former US presidents, Trump is prohibited from driving on public roads, a restriction that applies even after leaving office.

The Former Presidents Act of 1958 enforces this rule, ensuring that former presidents remain under continued Secret Service protection and other security measures.
