Trump invites Erdogan to join Gaza Peace Board

US President Donald Trump has invited the leaders of Egypt and Turkey to join a "Peace Board" to oversee the transition after the war in Gaza.
The so-called Peace Board, unveiled by the White House, will oversee the interim governance of Gaza under the US president's plan to end Israel's war in Gaza.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the proposal in a letter sent by Trump, inviting him to "become a founding member" of the board.
Meanwhile, Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said the country was considering a special invitation from Trump to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to join the board.
The White House announced several board members on Friday, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Trump will chair the board.
The establishment of the board was part of the US president's plan to end Israel's war in Gaza, which was unveiled in October.
The plan says a Palestinian technocratic body will be overseen by the international board, which will oversee the governance of Gaza for a transitional period.
The White House did not detail the responsibilities of each member of the "founding Executive board."
The names do not include any Palestinians. The White House said other members will be announced in the coming weeks.
The board will also include private equity executive and billionaire Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga and Robert Gabriel, a Trump adviser, the White House said, adding that Nickolay Mladenov, a former UN envoy for the Middle East, will be the senior representative for Gaza.
The White House said Army Major General Jasper Jeffers, commander of US special operations, was named commander of the International Stabilization Force. /Telegraph/
