Trump starts first day as president with firings, dismissing thousands of White House staff

The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, has begun a broad process of firing White House employees, purging the administration of individuals who, according to him, do not align with his vision of "Making America Great Again."

In a message on his personal platform, Truth Social, Trump publicly announced the departure of several senior officials in an unprecedented move.

"Our first day in the White House is not over yet!" Trump wrote.

"My Office of Presidential Personnel is in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand presidential appointees from the previous administration who are not aligned with our vision for America's future."

He continued by mentioning the names of four individuals who have already been dismissed:

Jose Andres, from the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition
Mark Milley, from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council
Brian Hook, from the Wilson Center for Scholars
Keisha Lance Bottoms, from the President's Export Council

"You are fired!" his post concluded, warning that many more names would follow.

Among the names that attracted the most attention was General Mark Milley, who was fired despite the last-ditch defense offered by former President Joe Biden in the final moments of his presidency. Trump has publicly criticized Milley, going so far as to say that he “deserved to be executed.”

Insiders report that the Trump administration has also launched a broad move to restructure the US diplomatic corps. The transition team is said to have asked for the resignations of more than a dozen senior diplomats, underscoring the president's commitment to building an administration that reflects his political vision.

These massive changes have raised concerns about the administration's stability and effectiveness as Trump tightens his grip on government structures in his second term. /Telegraph/
