Ukraine is expected to send military specialists within a few days to help protect US bases in the Middle East from Iranian drones, particularly the Shahed type, which have been widely used in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The news was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who confirmed that Kiev has received an official request from the United States for support in this regard.
According to Zelensky, Washington's request is related to the vast experience that Ukraine has gained during the war with Russia in identifying, tracking, and neutralizing Shahed drones.
These drones, produced by Iran and used in airstrikes, have become one of the main threats to infrastructure and military facilities in conflict zones. For this reason, Ukrainian expertise in combating them is considered very valuable for the protection of American bases in the Middle East region.
"We have received a request from the United States for specific support in defense against the 'Shaheeds' in the Middle East region. I have given instructions to provide the necessary resources and guarantee the presence of Ukrainian specialists," he stated.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to share its experience and technology in the fight against drones, thus contributing to strengthening the security of its international partners. The deployment of Ukrainian specialists is expected to help improve air defense systems, analyze the tactics used by drones, and develop more effective methods to neutralize them.
