Trump's speech as the 47th president of the United States

Donald Trump is giving his first speech after being sworn in as president for the second time.

He thanked the crowd, Vice President JD Vance, and other politicians and judges.

"America's golden age begins right now," he said, the Telegraph reports.

Trump stressed that the country will be respected again and "will be the envy of every nation."

"Quite simply, I will put America first," the new American president has now added.

He spoke about security, which he says will be restored.

"The scales of justice will be rebalanced," he says.

Trump says the "weaponization" of the Justice Department will end.

"Our top priority will be to create a proud, prosperous and free nation," he added.

Describing himself as "confident and optimistic," Trump says that "we are at the beginning of an exciting new era of national success."

"A wave of change is sweeping the country. The sun is shining on the entire world, and America has a chance to seize this opportunity like never before," Trump said.

But first, he added, "we need to be honest about the challenges we face."

These issues are "numerous," but he says they will "be annihilated by this great momentum that the world is experiencing right now."

He spoke of a "crisis of confidence" in the government, which he says cannot handle a "simple crisis at home."

He vows to return to the people "their wealth, their democracy."

"From this moment on, America's decline is complete. Our freedoms and the glorious destiny of our nation will no longer be denied," he added. /Telegraph/
