Homage in Prekaz, Gashi: The blood of the Jashari family became a light for our freedom

The Mayor of the Municipality of Obiliq, Xhafer Gashi, in marking the 112th anniversary of independence, paid tribute at the "Adem Jashari" Memorial Complex in Prekaz.

On November 28, the Independence Day of Albania, Gashi remembered the sacrifice of the Jashari family for freedom and independence, for which he expressed that "thanks to them, the Albanian people enjoy freedom".

"You cannot go to Prekaz without remembering the Jashari family without remembering the words of Hamëz Jashari when he said that we will die here. It was their blood that became light and today we are enjoying freedom", said Gashi.

Today marks 112 years since the declaration of independence of Albania in 1912 in Vlora. The declaration of independence of Albania came after almost 500 years of efforts of the Albanian people from the Ottoman Empire, which occupied the Albanian lands, 10 years after the death of Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu on January 17, 1468./kp/
