The session continues tomorrow, Dehari: There are no consultations with the parties, Haxhiu remains VV's candidate for Speaker of the Parliament

Tomorrow (Friday), the Constituent Session of the Kosovo Assembly will continue, and the Vetëvendosje Movement has not given up on Albulena Haxhiu's name as proposed for Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.

"The name has not changed," said the chairman of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari.

Dehari also said that he has not called any consultative meeting with political parties before the continuation of the constitutive session, scheduled for Friday at 10:00.

"No, we have completed the consultative meeting, now we will continue with the meeting, as planned," Dehari told REL.

Political parties had held a consultative meeting before the constitutive session began on Wednesday, but no political agreement was reached at this meeting on how to unblock the process for concluding the constitution of the ninth legislature, resulting from the February 9 elections.

In Wednesday's session, Albulena Haxhiu from LVV failed for the third time to secure 61 votes for the position of Speaker of Parliament.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) voted against the election of Haxhiu as Speaker of the Assembly, while the three deputies of the Social Democratic Initiative abstained.

PDK and AAK are asking LVV to change its candidate, considering Haxhiu a non-unifying figure.

Friday marks the sixth attempt to conclude the constitution of the Assembly, which began on April 15.

According to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, the constitutive session may continue no longer than 48 hours from the adjournment, without restrictions on how many continuations it may have.

The Assembly is considered constituted only after the President and Vice-Presidents are elected.
