Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel rejected Trump's warning to stop taking oil and money from Venezuela, adding that the US does not have the moral authority to force Cuba to sign any agreement.

US President Donald Trump warned Cuba that neither oil nor money will come from Venezuela and suggested that the island reach an agreement with the United States before it is too late.

"Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign nation. No one dictates to us what to do," said Diaz-Canel.

"Cuba does not attack, the US has been attacking Cuba for 66 years. Cuba does not threaten, it is preparing and is ready to defend its homeland to the last drop of blood," he added.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez wrote in a separate post on X that Cuba has the right to import fuel from any supplier that wants to export it.

He denied that Cuba has received financial or other "material" compensation in exchange for security services provided to any country, including Venezuela.

Venezuela is Cuba's largest supplier of oil, but no tankers have left Venezuelan ports for the Caribbean country since U.S. forces seized Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in early January and blockaded the OPEC nation's ports, shipping data show.

Meanwhile, Caracas and Washington are making progress on a $2 billion deal to ship up to 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil to the US, with the proceeds to be deposited in accounts overseen by the US Treasury Department.

"NO MORE OIL OR MONEY FOR CUBA - ZERO! I sincerely suggest they make a deal BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE," Trump wrote today on his Truth Social platform.

"For many years, Cuba has lived off large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela," Trump added. /Telegraph/
