Thomas Tuchel drops two England players from squad for Latvia clash

England manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly dropped two players from his squad for the World Cup qualifier against Latvia at Wembley.

The 51-year-old had his first match in charge of the 'Three Lions' on Friday evening, where they managed to secure a 2-0 victory over Albania, with Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry Kane scoring.

On Friday, Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) and Jarell Quansah (Liverpool) were left out of the 23-man squad for that match, however, they could play against Latvia as they are already part of the squad for this match.

Striker Anthony Gordon came on against Albania in the second half, but appears to have suffered an injury in the closing moments of the match and as a result, he will return to Newcastle.

Meanwhile, his Newcastle teammate Tino Livramento was part of the team in the win over Albania, but will miss the match against Latvia, while Aaron Ramsdale has been left out of the team for the second match in a row.

Livramento's departure means Lewis-Skelly is likely to retain his starting position at left-back after his fantastic debut performance.

"We have to do this process fairly to find the best group. That means we have to leave out very good and talented players."

"In the next 16 months it will be important to find the right team and not the 26 most talented players," Tuchel said.Telegraph/
