They worked for the elections, citizens complain about payment delays – CEC: There are technical errors, the lists are being improved

Citizens who were engaged in the February 9 election process, whether as commissioners, vote counters at the Municipal Centers and at the Counting and Results Center, or other staff, some of them have complained that they have not yet received payments for the work performed.

Some of them have expressed concern about this issue in an address to the Telegraph, emphasizing that such delays have never occurred before and that this is creating dissatisfaction and that in the future there may be problems finding observers and commissioners.

Regarding this issue, Telegrafi has contacted the Central Election Commission (CEC), who have stated that the payment processing process is nearing completion.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that some of the delays occurred due to technical errors.

"The Central Election Commission is continuing to process the lists at the Ministry of Finance for payments of persons engaged during various phases of the electoral process and this process is nearing completion. There are persons who have not yet received the funds they are entitled to for various reasons and which are repeated in every electoral process, such as: errors in recording the bank account number, inactive accounts or even non-personal accounts. In these cases, improvements are being made so that the CEC can resend them for payment to the Ministry of Finance", said Elezi.

The CEC had engaged around 20 people to be part of the electoral process and to supervise this process.

The February 9 elections were the first regular parliamentary elections held in Kosovo since the declaration of independence.

The LVV won the February 9 elections with 42.30 percent of the vote, leaving behind the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 20.95 percent and the Democratic League of Kosovo with 18.27 percent.

In fourth place is the coalition between the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Social Democratic Initiative with 7.06 percent.

The Serbian List – the largest Serb party in Kosovo – secured 4.26 percent of the vote. /Telegraph/
