They thought their former player was dead and held a minute of silence – the Bulgarian club is forced to apologize after he is alive

Football never ceases to amaze. When you think that everything has been invented... something new, something unusual always comes out.

The latest happened in Bulgaria. Levski and Arda players gathered in the middle of the field to observe a minute of silence for the death of Petko Ganchev, a former Arda player.

So far everything seems normal. With one exception. Ganchev was not dead.   Arda's club itself corrected its mistake in the first half, issuing a statement.

"Dear journalists and Arda fans, the club's management would like to express its sincere apologies to former team player Petko Ganchev and his loved ones, after the club received incorrect information about his death."

"We sincerely apologize to Petko Ganchev. We received incorrect information about his death."

"We wish Petko Ganchev many years of health and success," the official statement from the Arda club reads.

Currently, Ganchev, a 28-year-old center back, plays for Dobrudzha Dobrich in the Bulgarian Second Division.

During his time at Arda (2020-22), he played 21 matches and scored one goal. /Telegraph/
