A German military plane, departing from Berlin at 08:40 in the morning, diverted to Skopje airport after being unable to land at Pristina International Airport "Adem Jashari".

The news was confirmed by Driton Ujkani from the Air Navigation Services Agency, while Pristina Airport has issued an official statement explaining the technical reasons for the diversion.

According to the airport, ANP "Adem Jashari" is certified according to the international ICAO Category III B standard, which allows landing even with visibility of up to 50 meters, thanks to the advanced runway lighting system and ground navigation equipment (ILS CAT III B).

However, for such a landing to be carried out, the aircraft itself and its crew must be certified for operation in CAT III B.

In this specific case, the German military aircraft was not certified for CAT III B operations, and consequently did not meet the technical requirement to land in low visibility conditions.

The German crew required at least 550 meters of visibility, conditions which were not present at the time of approach to Pristina.

Pristina Airport emphasizes that the inability to land was not due to airport restrictions, but due to the lack of proper certification of the aircraft itself for CAT III B procedures.

Finally, the airport announces that all other flights are proceeding normally and without any problems, despite the low visibility conditions. /Telegraph/
