The situation between captain Dani Carvajal and coach Alvaro Arbeloa has come to an end. After weeks of tension and dissatisfaction over playing time, calm has returned to Valdebebas.

Carvajal had been on the bench for five consecutive games and his frustration peaked after the match against Valencia at Mestalla. The 34-year-old, who has played just 27 minutes in Los Blancos' last 10 games since returning from injury, was seen arguing with fitness coach Antonio Pintus, wondering why he was not getting more space, even 15 minutes at the end of matches.

In fact, against Valencia, David Jimenez was initially preferred as the starter and then Trent Alexander-Arnold from the bench, even though the Englishman had just recovered from a more serious injury.

However, according to reports from Spain, Carvajal and Arbeloa had an open and calm conversation during Tuesday morning's training session.

The two exchanged views without tension, clarified the situation and agreed to consider the matter closed, focusing fully on the team's objectives.

Now the focus shifts to the weekend's clash with Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu. All eyes will be on Arbeloa's formation and the choice at right-back. Jimenez is considered the lowest option in the pecking order, while both Alexander-Arnold and Carvajal have not started for three months.

Fede Valverde remains an alternative, but the signals are that the Uruguayan will continue in midfield.

For now, above all, there is peace in Madrid – and this is the first victory before the next match. /Telegraph/
