Kajtazi: There are 720 spies in Kosovo, Shabani and Qerimi are not the main ones

The country was shocked when eight months ago, in June 2024, Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi were arrested as collaborators of the Serbian Intelligence Service (BIA), and that with the information they sent to BIA official Srgjan Rosic, they had endangered the constitutional order of Kosovo.

Now the accused, Shabani and Qerimi, are not the only spies in Kosovo, as according to security expert Fadil Kajtazi, there are 720 other spies in the country.

But, according to expert Kajtazi, the activity of the two already accused of "Espionage", whose court hearings began this month, does not belong to the higher hierarchy.

According to him, Shabani and Qerimi stand somewhere in the middle, as their actions prove this.

Kajtazi even says that the two of them broke agency protocol by communicating over the phone, something that, according to him, should not happen.

"These [Muharremi and Qerimi] are not of the serious category in the hierarchy of spies. I have mentioned 720 people who are spies in Kosovo. There are violations of protocol, communication cannot be done by phone, they have broken protocol, they have made mistakes and the mistakes are made by those who are of the lowest level. They have been previously categorized within the secret service as: collaborator, operational liaison and social liaison", said Kajtazi in Klan Kosova.

"Based on these categories, they have created the operational network. I think that these two are in the middle, in what is known as the operational connection, it is less than the collaborator, because the collaborators are more deeply embedded. While we knew about Bedri Shabani that he was a spy before the war, his name was mentioned. It has become clear that our political class did not want to allow the continuity of the bodies that made Kosovo until 1999, and these are stronger than us. Serbia's collaborators are stronger, the Hague Tribunal is a Serbian agent product," said Kajtazi.
