The water level in the Vardar River in Skopje has risen

The water level of the Vardar River in Skopje continues to rise and has reached critical levels following heavy rainfall that has affected the country in recent days.
The Directorate for Hydrometeorological Work warns of increased caution when moving near the riverbed, especially in the lower and poorly lit parts along the coast.
According to the latest forecasts, river levels will remain high in Skopje and in the upper parts of the watersheds in the coming hours, although a gradual decrease is expected during the night.
Currently, most of the country is experiencing mixed precipitation, while with the penetration of cold air from the north, rain during the afternoon and evening hours will turn into snow. The greatest risk of local flooding and water accumulation is in the western and southwestern regions, where precipitation will remain rain for a longer time before turning into snow.
