AKU blocks 738 kg of chicken meat and cheese dangerous for consumption

Inspectors of the National Food Authority (AKU) in Tirana have undertaken numerous inspections of food businesses, blocking significant quantities of products dangerous for consumption.
During an inspection at the KMY business, the AKU confiscated 738 kilograms of chicken fillets and breasts.
According to inspectors, the meat was involved in an improper freezing and thawing process, remaining in contact with the ground and near environments affected by mold and rust. Due to these conditions, the KMY business activity has been suspended until hygiene and sanitation standards are met.
Another action was carried out at the "Bonum" operator, where inspectors found inadequate hygienic and sanitary conditions in the dairy where cheese was produced.
Damp walls and the presence of mold have led to the imposition of an administrative measure with a fine of 300 thousand lek and the seizure of 329 kilograms of white goat cheese.
The AKU announced that the products confiscated from both companies will be destroyed to prevent any risk to consumers.
The authority emphasizes the importance of complying with food safety standards and warns of further inspections across the country.
