Underground lake in Leskovik, Tare shows what the Czechs did for its discovery

An underground thermal lake, considered the largest in the world, has been discovered in Leskovik, a discovery made by the Czechs.

To talk about this issue, Euronews Albania invited Auron Tare, a researcher and historian who starts from the idea that Albania, as a territory that is not very well explored, should engage in such fields to discover the unique wealth that the country holds.

"Albania is an unexplored territory in general. During the years of communism, institutions have done a very good job in etymology, biology, but in this field like underwater research, there is a great need for cooperation with foreigners."

"Albania needed to create a kind of nucleus for interested people who want to deal with this field," said Tare.

He added that Albanians should make such discoveries for their country, not foreigners.

According to the historian, Albania is throwing funds at unimportant and non-essential things like the discovery of the lake in Leskovik.

"The Albanian state has zero commitment. Albanian institutions hold concerts, while the funds should have been given to a certain group of Albanians who are interested in such things, to deal with the problem of Albanian DNA. To make publications and studies, to contact Harvard, which deals with these issues. We go and waste money and we don't do such essential things and all this, foreigners come and do it and then we get bored," said Auron Tare.
