A person suspected of the criminal offenses of 'assault on an official while performing official duties' and 'unauthorized possession, control, possession or use of a weapon' has been arrested.

According to a statement, the Regional Police Directorate in Peja, Police Station in Istog, on 12.11.2025, at around 13:15, while police patrols in civilian clothes were on 'Mother Teresa' Street in Istog, they noticed a vehicle that was stopped, where police officers requested to be searched, but the suspect fled, not respecting the police order to stop and during his escape, he pulled a weapon from his belt and pointed it at the police officers.

It is further reported that the police officers drew their official weapons, in order to avoid danger to themselves and citizens, where the same was given a verbal order to drop the weapon, in which case the suspect was neutralized and arrested, where one of the police officers was injured during the arrest.

"The following were seized from the suspect: a 9mm pistol and a magazine for the same weapon. The suspect, after being interviewed by investigators, by order of the State Prosecutor, was sent into custody for 48 hours," the announcement says. /Telegrafi/
