Loud boos erupted in Tel Aviv's Hostage Square when US envoy Steve Witkoff mentioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's name in his speech.

As Witkoff addressed the thousands of gathered Israelis waving American flags, every mention of US President Donald Trump drew thunderous applause.

But when Witkoff tried to talk about Netanyahu, the crowd responded with waves of loud boos.

Every time he tried to express his gratitude to the Israeli leader and his chief negotiator, Ron Dermer, the crowd interrupted him.

Finally, Witkoff said, "Guys, let me finish this thought; believe me, they were essential to this."

Netanyahu's critics accuse him of prolonging the war and avoiding responsibility for the security shortcomings that led to the October 7 attack.

He is also accused of repeatedly sabotaging negotiations to release hostages and end the war.

Unlike Witkoff and Kushner, Netanyahu has never visited Hostage Square, which has been a central gathering point for the past two years. /Telegraph/
