The son's murderer was sentenced to 16 years, Martin Can's father speaks: A ray of justice was served, because the event was premeditated

Engjëll Cani, Martin Cani's father, has commented on the court's decision that sentenced the perpetrator of his son's murder to 16 years in prison, considering it "a ray of justice."
"It's a ray of justice because the event was premeditated and there were two victims. Despite Luiz's escape by God's miracle, the law for minors in Albania halves the sentence, so from 32 years it became 16," Cani told A2CNN.
Martin Can's father also gave a message to the parents of teenagers, advising them to be as close to their children as possible and create strong bonds with them.
"In my case, it was not a matter of lack of care. I was very close to Martin and followed him every day. My wife, who is a teacher, was also always in touch with him. But that was not enough because the incident happened at the school gate. If she had notified us earlier, we could have saved his life," Cani added. He stressed that the conflict had occurred between two students from the same school and was not related to social networks, as Martin was not a TikTok user.
Cani also criticized the lack of measures after the tragic event and the increase in violence in schools. "Tell me one measure that has been taken. So far we have had 5-6 other cases.
The most recent case was a week ago. We went out and protested for all Albanian children. In Albania, anything is possible.
"Classes continued normally the next day, both for Martin and for Erjon, the other boy who was killed in Durrës. Conflicts happen every day in schools," he declared.
