The sad story of the English star: He only has four fingers on his right hand, but he was invited by the national team

Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has received his first England call-up in his career. 

Burn has not played for England at any age group, having spent most of his career playing in the lower divisions of English football. 

He signed for Brighton in 2018 and made his debut in January 2019, before making 84 appearances and moving to Newcastle for €13m in 2022. 

Fans have noticed that he is missing a finger on his right hand when the cameras have focused on him during the match, but very few of them know the story behind this case. 

According to various reports, Burn was 13 years old when he attempted to climb a fence near his home. 

Unfortunately for him, the ring got stuck on a nail and when he fell to the ground it completely severed his finger. 

Burn has never discussed the matter personally, but in an interview in July last year, he and his Newcastle teammates joked about his broken finger on a visit to the Adidas offices. 

The fact that he has one less finger has not been a disadvantage for Burn, as he has already earned an invitation from Thomas Tuchel to England at the age of 32.Telegraph/
