A rock massif broke away a day ago in the Theth area.

There are no reports of damage from this event, while footage filmed by a resident of the area is making the rounds online.

Expert of the Agency for Protected Areas in Shkodra, Agim Dardha, wrote in a post on social networks that the phenomenon is related to abnormal temperatures for the season in this area. He called for increased caution and respect for the security perimeter, especially in areas with steep slopes.

"Natural phenomenon in the Alps-Theth National Park. Large temperature changes between day and night, combined with humidity and the freezing-thawing cycles of water in rock crevices, sometimes cause partial collapses of rock massifs in alpine areas," he stated.

Further, he wrote that "these natural phenomena, like the one that recently occurred in Theth, are part of the geological processes that shape the landscape of the Albanian Alps over the centuries. Therefore, during your stay or visits to the area, caution and respect for the safety perimeter are recommended, especially in areas with steep slopes." /Telegrafi/
