The resignation letter does not convince them - PDK, LDK and AAK demand Kurti's removal from the prime minister's office before he is sworn in as an MP

The constitution of the Kosovo Assembly failed today, as the report of the commission for the verification of mandates was not approved.

The leaders of PDK and LDK are demanding Albin Kurti's resignation from the position of Prime Minister, even though the latter has submitted a letter stating that he is resigning from this position before his swearing in as an MP.

PDK Chairman Memli Krasniqi has stated that any delay in constituting the institutions is a loss for Kosovo.

He called on Kurti and his ministers who were elected MPs to resign and then go to the Assembly.

"Resign, let's hold the session. Propose the chairman, elect him, we propose the vice-chairmen. Then we enter the constitutional process and examine who makes up the government," Krasniqi added.

Krasniqi said that today it was seen that Albin Kurti has 52 votes and that this is his current political power.

"I am convinced, from what I see today, that with 52 votes Mr. Kurti cannot form the government. We are ready, in case of his failure, to immediately take responsibility with the parties that have been in the opposition in the past, and with the minority communities of Kosovo, except for the Serbian List, to form the new government with Bedri Hamza as prime minister," he said.

Even the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, demanded Kurti's resignation.

"Resign, sir, take the oath as an MP, like everyone else in the Assembly. Enough with the angry movies and causes!" Abdixhiku wrote.

The leader of the LDK further stated that the great appetite of the deputies of the Vetëvendosje Movement - and of their leader - to be both Prime Minister and Deputy, is producing a dark democratic episode in the country today.

"Unprecedented, because no one so far, with a democratic mind and respect for the Republic, had tried to hold both functions at once," Abdixhiku wrote, adding that while on the one hand they declare that they are resigning, on the other hand they continue to exercise the resigned functions as if nothing new has happened.

"How untrue; how undemocratic! The truth, however, is quite simple! They want to buy time; because they have no votes. With 52 votes now, the ones we saw. The spitters of the swamp of saliva, they do not have a majority. They need time for additional bargaining - difficult, unprincipled, costly for this Republic," said Abdixhiku.

Abdixhiku added that "so expensive that it was understood from the messages they sent to each other!"

The leader of the AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, has also requested the same thing. Haradinaj wrote that the Law and Constitution of this country do not allow you to hold the position of Prime Minister or Minister and be sworn in as an MP.

"You cannot sit in two chairs at the same time. We cannot violate the Constitution and act differently, which is why we did not vote on the report. Albin Kurti and his ministers, if they want to constitute the Assembly, should step down either from their ministerial positions or from their mandate as MPs, and not blame others for their own mistakes," Haradinaj wrote.

Otherwise, in the letter that Kurti submitted today to the Parliament Secretariat, it is stated that the government has been in office since March 23.

"Since March 23, when the full four-year mandate of our government ended, the government has been in office/resignation. In accordance with the Constitution and the laws in force, with the statement I gave and accepted by the CEC on March 27, 2025, and with my public stance of the same day, I have effectively resigned along with the government cabinet," the letter states.

The letter continues, "For the purpose of taking the oath as a member of the Assembly of Kosovo of the ninth legislature, I am also officially submitting my resignation from the executive position, effective as of the aforementioned date in accordance with the Constitution and laws in force." /Telegrafi/
