In eleven municipalities of Kosovo, the process of recounting the votes of candidates has been fully concluded, following the CEC's decision to recount all polling stations nationwide.

CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, announced that as of 16:00 PM today, about 45 percent of polling stations have been recounted, or 1142 out of a total of 2557 that will undergo this process.

"The counting of ballots is continuing at the Counting and Results Center according to the list of polling stations for which the CEC has decided to recount. From the beginning of this process (Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 18:00 PM) to now (Thursday, January 22, 2026, 16:00 PM), about 45% or 1,142 out of 2,557 polling stations have been recounted," he said.

The municipalities in which the recount process for candidates has been completed are Dragash, Kaçanik, Leposaviq, Prizren, Skenderaj, Shtime, Ferizaj, Vitia, Vushtrri, Zvecan and Junik.

Central Election Commission plans to fully conclude the process of recounting votes for candidates by the end of this month, and then in early February they have said they plan to announce the final results.

The CEC's decision to proceed with a recount initially in 10 municipalities in total and in 28 others only 10 percent, and then the second decision to proceed with a total recount came after the evidence of manipulations and major discrepancies in the votes of candidates within political parties, for which the State Prosecutor's Office has also been activated, who are collecting information and necessary evidence to establish whether any criminal offenses were committed in connection with the electoral process.
