The prosecution filed an indictment against the MP from "The Left", Sashko Janchev

The prosecution has filed an indictment against the MP from the Left Party, Sasko Janchev, for serious crimes against the safety of people and property in traffic. This comes after the road accident in which Janchev was involved on September 14 in the village of Marino, Skopje, when his vehicle hit a motorcycle. As a result, 16-year-old Matej Dimovski lost his life, while his 13-year-old girlfriend, as a passenger, was seriously injured.
According to the prosecution, Janchev did not comply with traffic rules and thus committed the criminal offense for which he is now held responsible.
"The suspect was driving a Hyundai Tucson, but did not respect traffic rules, endangering public traffic and putting people's lives at risk. He turned the vehicle inappropriately without ensuring that such an action would not endanger other traffic participants. At that moment, the vehicle was hit by a Jijing motorcycle without license plates and without installed lighting equipment, which was driven by 16-year-old Matej Dimovski," the Basic Public Prosecution Office says.

Very soon after the Prosecutor's Office's announcement, Yanchev himself took to social media to express his deep regret for the accident and the death of the 16-year-old boy. He said that immediately after the accident, the authorities began to use the case for political purposes against him, and even called him a murderer. Yanchev said that in this case he would not invoke his immunity as a deputy.
Facebook status of MP Sashko Yanchev:
"The government, on the same day, just a few hours later, began to use this case for political purposes against me through coordinated and planned attacks. Then the prime minister, in a news interview, condemned me and indirectly threatened me with the Prosecutor's Office. Then the story about immunity came out. I was neither called upon to immunity, nor did it occur to me to be called upon."
According to official information, the accident occurred on September 14 after midnight, while the motorcyclist did not have a driving license and neither he nor the other passenger were wearing a protective helmet. Once the indictment is approved, the procedure will continue before the competent court.
