Prosecution and Police investigate falsification of election results in Dragash – 9 people detained for 48 hours

The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police - Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption, has launched investigations following public information that emerged during the recount of votes at the Municipal Counting Center in Dragash.
With the authorization of Chief Prosecutor Petrit Kryeziu, investigative bodies have interviewed 51 suspects.
Of them, nine commissioners were detained for 48 hours by order of the State Prosecutor, due to well-founded suspicions that they committed the criminal offense of "Falsification of voting results", according to Article 216, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Prosecution announces that within the legal deadlines it will decide on the measures that will be taken to ensure the appearance of the defendants in the proceedings.
The responsible institutions emphasize their commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process, guaranteeing the right to vote, and combating any criminal offense that violates free and democratic elections. /Telegrafi/
